Solar tracking specialist Nextpower has announced the acquisition of German solar mounting manufacturer Zimmermann PV-Steel Group, a move that significantly broadens its presence in the European solar infrastructure market.
Unveiled during Intersolar Europe, the deal strengthens Nextpower’s offering by adding fixed-tilt mounting systems, solar carports, agrivoltaics and floating solar structures to its portfolio. It also gives the company access to Zimmermann’s extensive project pipeline and established customer base across Europe.
Founded in 1950, Zimmermann entered the solar sector in 2009 and has since delivered more than 2,500 projects, representing over 20 GW of installed capacity across 58 countries. The acquisition is expected to create a combined business generating approximately €300 million in annual revenue.
The transaction, valued at up to €330 million through a combination of cash and shares, strengthens Nextpower’s position in the fast-growing market for utility-scale solar structures. Fixed-tilt systems remain a key segment across Europe, particularly in Germany, France and Poland, where demand for large-scale photovoltaic installations continues to grow.
According to CEO and founder Dan Shugar, the acquisition expands Nextpower’s product portfolio while adding complementary engineering expertise, manufacturing capabilities and stronger supply chain coverage across Europe. He also highlighted Zimmermann’s experience in agrivoltaic and high-density solar solutions as increasingly important as developers seek to maximise land use and meet evolving permitting requirements.
The acquisition follows the recent European launch of Nextpower’s NX Gemini solar tracker and is expected to significantly increase the company’s addressable market across the region.
Following completion of the transaction, Zimmermann will continue operating under the name “Zimmermann PV, a Nextpower Company,” maintaining its existing brand identity and customer relationships while benefiting from Nextpower’s global manufacturing and distribution network.
